Outside of work: cycling, conservation, , cycling, films, and cycling. Raced for years and years and years. Suffered severe skull injury in 2012 but am told that more light should now get into my thoughts as a result.Real truth is that one second can change your life :([:(] In December 2013 had to leave my practice behind due to the physical difficulties caused by the injuries!
On the bright side, awarded Cert AVP-status WELFARE AND also CertAVP SHEEP in October 2015 Perhaps five years at university were not completely wasted after all?

I accepted the inevitable and I left the practising register in February 2018 but still try to maintain some CPD.
Now I am a competitive Para-cyclist. A fractured skull isn't going to stop me! 5th in the National Para-cycling time-trial championship in 2018. But dropped to 6th in 2019! The former was undoubtedly My most pleasing result ever; before or after my accident! 5th again in 2021 plus I have won the the National Paracycling Time-trial Series Leading the series with such a lead of points I could not be caught in this!! Indeed I won two events of the Series giving me enough points by October to win the whole series for my para-cycling category in 2021. How can I top that in 2022?? Answers on a postcard please!! I never expected to hold a National Title in my beloved sport and certainly not at my current agree of 64 years! And this passion all started with me commuting around Liverpool as a student, and eg to and from Leahurst on the Wirral. Then a couple of times riding between home in Leeds and Liverpool at the end or start of terms! Liverpool to Leeds was very tough; 96 miles mostly uphill it felt like! Burt that meant Leeds to Liverpool felt easier and was in fact about 3/4 hour quicker! 5.75hoursthis way i.s.o 6.5 hours the other!
I officially retired from practice in February 2018.But I still have opinions! And some knowledge/experiences to pass on. Not all of my knowledge fell out through the hole in my fractured skull!!
