Disengaged as I am from veterinary politics, should an impartial journalistic piece be referring to Tom Lonsdale as Dr RMB? (Even if he would probably quite enjoy that)
I'm not sure I understand how referring to T.L. as Dr R.M.B is not impartial. Sure, if I'd said: "Dr Thomas "cream-faced loon" Lonsdale, you could argue I was not being impartial, but I didn't.
Why not Dr OOH (Jo) Dyer then? Or any other candidate? I may not think very much of Dr Lonsdale, but I read the rest of this article as news not private eye!
Ashley, no other candidate has campaigned on a single issue for so long, so I don't think it would be possible to tag the others the way you suggest. For the same reason, I think it perfectly reasonable to refer to RMB Lonsdale as I have. Plus I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of 'Private Eye' to bring a bit of colour to an otherwise dry subject.
