Medivet, the practice group which is to feature in the forthcoming Panorama documentary It shouldn't happen at a vets' (9pm, July 22nd), has issued a statement concerning the programme.
The statement, which can be read in full here, includes an interview with a Medivet client who was in turn interviewed for the documentary:
PS: Whilst you're here, take a moment to see our latest job opportunities for vets.
Hi
I am a pet owner and happen to work in this industry but not at a vets. I therefore consider myself able to comment from an owners point of view and as someone who knows many vets, nurses and practices.
Having read / listened to the MediVet video's and customers letters I am appalled at the way the BBC have conducted themselves. They are going to scare owners away from taking their pets to the vets and this will have a detremental affect on the welfare of the aminals - did the BBC think of this - I don't think so. Surely what we all strive for - owners and vets - is to ensure animals are treated and dont suffer. This sort of media is going to mean bad news for the animals as well as the vet practices.
The BBC should be ashamed!
