Advantix (Bayer) is a spot-on formulation containing imidacloprid and permethrin licensed for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations in dogs.
The authors evaluate its use in the treatment of flea (Ctenocephalides felis) and mite (Cheytiella and Listrophorus gibbus) parasitovorax infestations in rabbits.
Rabbits received 40mg imidacloprid and 200mg permethrin and were evaluated at intervals over the next six weeks. From two weeks after treatment no fleas or mites were detected. No adverse reactions were recorded.
