Haemangiosarcomas are malignant neoplasms arising from the vascular endothelium and are considered to be a relatively rare finding in cats. The authors describe the biological behaviour and prognostic factors from the clinical records of 53 cases.
They found that subcutaneous haemangiosarcomas were more biologically aggressive than the cutaneous form, were more likely to recur locally and result in death or euthanasia of the patient.
They also suggest that the metastatic potential of both forms is higher than previously reported.
