Thistle Vets are currently searching for a vet to join our diverse team. We are a proudly independent, 2 site, 8 vet progressive clinic keen to hear from vets of all stripes, looking to join a busy clinic and an established, eclectic, fun and welcoming team.

Our close-knit team are very well qualified and experienced with several of our vets and nurses possessing or working towards postgraduate qualifications. Amongst the vets we have certificate holders in cardiology (x2), ophthalmology, feline medicine, and acupuncture and have we aim to foster a supportive environment for vets to learn from one another. Our consultations are 20 minutes long and this reflects our general ethos of thoroughness, attention to detail, and focus on quality not quantity. Comprehensive workup and treatment is encouraged when possible, facilitated by an ever-expanding range of equipment and gadgets (endoscopy, video otoscopy, doppler ultrasound, dental x-ray, bronchoscopy, multiparameter monitors, electrocautery, full in-house lab, ECG, tonometry, slit lamp, advanced cruciate surgery and fracture equipment, root canal) and a wide range of other gadgets, alongside a motivated clientele.
Our Chesser clinic underwent an expansion and top-to-bottom refurbishment in Summer ‘23, which has seen major investment to cater for a burgeoning client base and expand our clinical capabilities.
The Package
Salary is generous and is scaled relative to experience level and qualifications. This part-time role involves 3 weekdays/week from (08:30-19:00), a 1:6 Saturday rota (09:00-17:00) and a 1:12 Sunday rota (10:00-13:00). The position is equivalent to 0.75 of the hours worked by our full time veterinary surgeons. VetsNow cover our OOH provision, and as such, there is no OOH commitments in this role.
Annual leave: 19 days/year (15 days + 4 fixed bank holidays)
Those wishing to embark on a certificate will be fully funded and supported including travel and accommodation. CPD is strongly encouraged with a very healthy flexible budget, with paid leave granted to attend conferences or courses.
Positive salary reviews are conducted yearly and long service is rewarded with extra days of annual leave.
RCVS and VDS fees are fully paid.
Private medical insurance is available as an optional perk.
