Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Stamford Veterinary Centre. The role will involve a blend of consulting and theatre. Candidates studying towards or holding postgraduate qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Our aim is to offer a good work/life balance in a friendly, relaxed working atmosphere. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it easy for you to strike the right balance. We are happy to accommodate a flexible working pattern to suit you.

About the rota

  • 2-4 days per week
  • We are proud to offer our OOH service to our clients to provide continuity in their time of need, and we balance this out with days off in lieu and extra remuneration: the on call rota is 1 in 7 (you will not be expected to stay at the practice and you would be assisted by our experienced nursing and support team)
  • 1 in 7 weekends on duty with a day off in lieu the following week

About Us

We are a first opinion and cardiology referral practice (soon to be offering internal medicine and imaging referrals too).
Nestled in the pretty market town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, we are perfectly situated, providing the best of both worlds with beautiful countryside and Rutland Water on our doorstep, but also easy access to the nearby cities of Peterborough, Cambridge, Leicester, Nottingham and Lincoln, and London just an hour away on the train.
We have links to local pet charities and take part in social and charity events during the year.

Meet Our Team

Join our diverse and dynamic team of 6 vets (including a RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Cardiology, a Certificate Holder in Internal Medicine and another completing the certificate in Diagnostic Imaging), 9 nurses & 9 support staff who are proud to offer our clients a high standard of clinical expertise and patient care.

Cutting-Edge Facilities

As well as the standard tools, two operating theatres and dedicated areas for feline and canine patients, we have:

  • Advanced Doppler ultrasound and digital x-rays for state-of-the-art imaging
  • 24h ECG Holter monitor as well as conventional 6 leads ECG
  • Tonometer, diamond burr, loops and other dedicated ophthalmic equipment
  • MMP orthopaedic kit
  • Multi-parameters and capnography units
  • Video endoscope and bronchoscope
  • And more, including our in-house laboratory

Unlock Your Potential

We are committed to nurturing your growth. If you are pursuing postgraduate qualifications, we will support with a generous CPD allowance and dedicated study time. Certificate holders are encouraged to apply.
We are in search of a surgeon with confidence in handling routine surgeries and medical cases. Rest assured; our supportive team is always ready to lend a hand. Your dedication to delivering exceptional client experiences and maintaining the highest care standards will make you an invaluable member of our team.
