Job Description
Salary up to £72,000 plus Relocation Allowance up to £8,000 and Welcome Bonus up to £10,000
Mill House Veterinary Surgery and Hospital are on the lookout for a consult only vet to join their team.
We are a small animal 1st opinion and referral hospital awarded outstanding in all six of the RCVS awards. Our high specification of both facilities and equipment coupled with the knowledge of our existing team offers plenty of opportunity for professional development.
We have comprehensive training facilities and a comfortable vets office and library. As a gold standard Cat Friendly Clinic, silver standard Rabbit Friendly Clinic and Practice of the Year twice, our passion for client and patient care is renowned. We have a very loyal client base who appreciate good quality veterinary care and our friendly approach.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working in a well-established, high- achieving practice alongside a team of dedicated and motivated colleagues who provide a clinically advanced, personal service for our clients and their pets. Our experienced team can support you in developing new skills and taking your career to the next level. This includes support for certificate studies and special interest support for more experienced candidates.
As a consult only vet you will see mainly cats, dogs, small furies and the opportunity to do some exotic work should you wish. We also work closely with a local hedgehog charity.
The successful candidate will have a client-focused approach with enthusiasm for general clinical veterinary practice. A minimum of 2 years’ experience is ideal, with certificates always welcomed and encouraged, but not essential.
About us
Currently we have 15 Veterinary Surgeons including certificate holders in cardiology, advanced imaging, ECC, soft tissue, ophthalmology, small animal medicine and exotics. We also have a large support team of 15 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 8 Student Veterinary Nurses and 20 Support Staff. We have an inquisitive and learning culture, encouraging input from all colleagues and well being is prioritised. We have several advanced practitioners to support you and act as mentors supporting career progression.
As a busy first opinion practice we see a varied caseload, undertake referrals in internal medicine, laparoscopy, radiology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, acupuncture. We have equipment to support oncology, surgical (soft tissue and orthopaedic), diagnostic imaging and medical services, offering opportunities for progression in a number of areas according to interest. Our superb equipment includes video endoscopy, laparoscopy, vascular Sealing device & harmonic scalpel, CR digital X-ray & digital dental X-ray, colour flow Doppler, Capnography & Ventilator and slit Lamp

Our rota is very flexible and can be tailored to the candidate's preferred working times or clinical interests, both full and part time applicants are welcomed. Full time is 40 hours over 4 days a week working day shift and twilight shift. You would also need take part in a 1:4 weekends rota.
