Central Qualifications (CQ)

Part Time Role – as and when work across the UK

Independent End Point Assessors (EPAs) for L2 Animal Care and Welfare Assistant apprenticeship standard – Equine discipline

Role Summary

We have an opportunity for occupationally competent assessors to join our team of Level 2 Independent End Point Assessors for Equine End Point Assessments.

This work will be on an ad hoc basis and booked as we require assessors, this can be tailored to fit in with existing employment.

We are initially looking for Assessors within the following three areas – Wales, Midlands and the South West.

It’s a great chance to contribute to the training of equine veterinary care assistant students as they start their journey in an animal-based profession.

Principal Areas of Responsibility

  • To be available for a minimum of 4 End Point Assessment days each year
  • To be able to drive to the assessment locations (usually within a Veterinary Practice) up to 2 hours drive each way.
  • To have experience with L2 Veterinary Nurse Assistant Equine syllabus
  • Remain current with CQ products, services, policies and procedures and be able to apply all in the context of EPA

Overall Duties

  • Attend and undertake End Point Assessment when booked by CQ to be held within Veterinary Practices across the United Kingdom. Initially we are seeking assessors for the Midlands, Wales and the South West of the UK.
  • Utilise the stated assessment methods to undertake assessment of the apprentice’s competence and knowledge against specific standards and plans
  • Ensure all activities are in line with CQ policies and procedures
  • Ensure a robust, valid, reliable and fair assessment process is delivered
  • Ensure a clear video recording of the tasks is undertaken
  • Mark all components of the End Point Assessment in line with the grading criteria and guidelines
  • Undertake CQ training on a regular basis in order to standardise quality and consistency
  • Promote CQ values
  • Take an active role in all team activities to ensure full compliance with agreed safety, quality and environmental standards and expectations
  • Understand the CQ Data Protection Policy and Procedure and adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998 and subsequent GDPR

Skills

  • Equine professional qualification held for at least 3 years or relevant work experience in the core of this profession.
  • You will need to have a Level 3 qualification in equine animal care or equine animal science or equine veterinary nursing or an equivalent higher qualification.
  • Have an understanding of apprenticeships with the relevant occupational / industry standard and knowledge
  • Proficient IT skills to use MS Office software to be able to complete the documentation
  • Accuracy and attention to detail for completion of the documentation
  • Be able to prioritise, plan and organise your time for the day
  • Training will be provided

Benefits

  • Daily rate for 1 or 2 students examined
  • Mileage reimbursed

Time Commitment

  • Assessment days will be booked with you for up to 2 students a day
  • Each professional assessment takes 3 hours
  • Full paperwork must be completed and submitted back to the EPA team
  • Lunch break is unpaid and has to be taken for at least 30 minutes after 6 hours
