Scottish Vet Referrals
Referral Surgeon Required
SVR is an independent, multidisciplinary referral practice situated in the spectacular Scottish Highlands. We pride ourselves on providing excellent clinical care in a relaxed and friendly setting. Surgical cases are referred to us from across the North of Scotland and include a variety of routine and emergencies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who both enjoys their time in theatre and ensuring that owners are as equally well cared for.
In this part of the world, where a large geographical area is covered, but the population still relatively low, it might be unrealistic to expect to reach the throughput seen in many other referral practices. Therefore, we envisage that the role would suit a surgeon who would welcome perhaps a generally slower pace, while enjoying the benefits of having more time to ensure excellent patient and client experience, and pursue non-surgical interests inside or outside of work.
The People and the Practice You would work with one other part time surgeon, a further 8 clinicians across other disciplines, 6 nurses, a VCA and student, and 4 administrative staff, who all uphold our strong spirit of fun, camaraderie and high standards.
We have well-equipped, spacious operating theatres with Multiparameter Monitoring, DR X-Ray, Toshiba 64-slice CT scanner, endoscopy, arthroscopy and ultrasound.
The Place
The practice is situated in the beautiful surrounding of the Inverness Campus with views to Ben Wyvis in the north; where collaboration with neighbours involved in the life sciences, such as the National Health Service (NHS), University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) and Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) is encouraged.
On our doorstep is access to breathtaking landscapes, lochs, beaches, forests and mountains – perfect those who enjoy the great outdoors, whether just to admire the stunning scenery and wildlife or for a more daring adventure. There is a rich cultural heritage with archaeological sites, castles, music and art; but all the modern amenities one might enjoy – restaurants, bars, cinema, theatre, gyms and swimming pools, ice rink, golf courses, bouldering and climbing centre, good schools.
In addition, train, bus and air links to UK cities and Europe are at hand.
The Person
The position is best suited to an advanced practitioner or certificate holder in surgery. Ideally the candidate would be happy performing both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to an Advanced Practitioner (AP) who would like to continue to develop their experience, knowledge and skills or one with more experience.
It could suit someone wanting to work part-time or someone seeking involvement in the business and practice management.
The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and a good communicator.
The Offer
Alongside a competitive salary, dependent on experience, we also offer:
