Veterinary Surgeon – Full time maternity cover
Watkins + Tasker Vets – North Somerset - wtvets.co.uk
One of our experienced vets will be taking maternity leave soon, and we are looking for a brilliant vet to join our independent practice on a temporary maternity cover basis.
We are seeking a full-time vet to work 4 or 5 days a week, totalling 39 hours. The role includes 1 in 8 out-of-hours (OOH) weeknights, 1 in 8 full OOH weekends, and 1 in 12 Saturday mornings. While we prefer candidates with at least 2 years of experience, we’re open to considering those with less experience if they’re the right fit. If you’re unable to commit to the exact rota outlined, we’d still love to hear from you and explore how we can make a flexible arrangement work.
At Watkins + Tasker Vets, we have friendly, caring vets, dedicated nurses and brilliant support staff, to ensure our patients and clients are in the best possible hands. Our strapline is: Your Vets for Adored Pets and this is something we truly believe in.
As a proudly independent, award-winning small animal practice, we have three North Somerset locations: Nailsea, Portishead and Yatton, approximately 20 minutes south of Bristol. We provide a local and convenient service with state-of-the-art equipment and excellent surgical and medical facilities. We are a Dog Friendly Clinic, Cat Friendly Clinic and Rabbit Friendly Vet and have won Best Vets in Somerset for the last 4 years running. Most recently we have won ‘Rabbit Veterinary Practice of the Year UK’ announced in January 2025!
Your workload would be a mixture of consulting and surgery every day and it is evenly split between all our wonderful vets. Most of our vets have post graduate certificates meaning that there will always be someone there to help and support you should you need it. Our nursing team also have an array of qualifications, and they are always on hand to assist you.
